Applications Now Open: Urban Coders Guild's 2025–26 Afterschool Coding Programs

Urban Coders Guild is proud to open applications for our 2025–26 afterschool coding programs. These free, in-person courses are open to all middle and high school students across the Tulsa area. Students of all experience levels are welcome, from those just beginning to explore coding to those ready to deepen their skills and prepare for real-world tech careers.

Classes will begin the week of September 8, 2025, and will take place at Langston University–Tulsa, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Space is limited, and enrollment is first come, first served.

Expanding Equity in Tech Through Real-World Learning

At Urban Coders Guild, we believe that access to high-quality STEM education is a right, not a privilege. Our programs are designed to serve students who have historically been excluded from pathways into technology and innovation. That includes Black, Latine, Indigenous, and female students, as well as those from under-resourced schools and communities.

The programs we offer are not just about learning to code. They are about building confidence, nurturing problem-solving skills, and cultivating a sense of belonging in the tech space. Our students are not just preparing for careers. They are preparing to become creators, innovators, and leaders in a digital world.

This work is especially critical now, as Tulsa positions itself as one of the nation’s most promising emerging tech hubs. The success of this ecosystem depends on who has access to the tools of the future. If we want a thriving, inclusive tech economy, we must ensure that young people from all communities are invited to the table and supported in developing the skills that will shape tomorrow.

Urban Coders Guild’s mission aligns directly with Tulsa’s tech ecosystem-building efforts: to foster homegrown talent, address equity gaps, and create long-term opportunity that builds both careers and community wealth. Our afterschool programs are one of the most direct and scalable ways to engage young people in this work.

Why This Matters for Black, Latine, and Indigenous Youth

Black, Latine, and Indigenous students continue to be underrepresented in computer science classrooms, in STEM careers, and in the tech industry at large. These disparities are not due to a lack of talent or interest. They are the result of systemic barriers, including under-resourced schools, limited access to mentors, and learning environments that often do not reflect the cultural and social experiences of the students they serve.

Urban Coders Guild is working to change that. We provide culturally responsive, community-rooted programming that helps students not only develop skills, but see themselves as a part of the tech future.

When students of color are included in tech from an early age, they are better positioned to shape the technologies that will affect their lives and communities. They also gain access to high-wage, high-demand careers that can serve as launching points for financial stability and intergenerational opportunity.

We are not just teaching code. We are cultivating leadership, identity, and purpose.

Join Us in Building a More Inclusive Future

The future of Tulsa’s tech ecosystem will be defined by whether we invest in inclusive, community-driven talent development today. Our students are ready. They simply need the opportunity to show what they can do.

Applications are open now at https://www.urbancodersguild.org/apply
