Urban Coders Guild Releases 2025-26 Annual Report
Urban Coders Guild has released its 2025-26 Annual Report, offering a clear look at the students we served, the work we delivered, the challenges we encountered, and the lessons that are shaping what comes next.
During the 2025-26 program year, Urban Coders Guild served more than 208 unduplicated middle and high school students through free summer, afterschool, and school-day computer science programming. Our summer and afterschool programs reached 175 students, including 97 new and 78 returning participants. Through school-day partnerships at Central Middle and Central High, we also served 37 students through 220 hours of app and web development instruction. Seventy-five students earned Explore digital badges during Summer 2025, and all UCG student programming remained tuition-free.
The report also reflects honestly on a year that tested the organization. A significant contraction in philanthropic support required reductions in some student and staff supports, staffing furloughs, a shortened program year, and the cancellation of our traditional year-end commencement. Those experiences reinforced an important lesson: strong student programs depend on strong financial, operational, governance and data systems behind them.
That lesson has shaped the work underway since the close of the program year. Urban Coders Guild is strengthening its curriculum and measurement systems, improving financial and operational planning, and developing clearer pathways that connect computer science learning with credentials, higher education, mentorship, and the workforce. The report also reflects a growing institutional focus on helping students move from access to belonging, meaningful participation and greater agency.
We are grateful to the students, families, educators, schools, funders, employers, community organizations, mentors and other partners who made this work possible. Our progress has always depended on more than the work that happens inside a classroom. It depends on a broader community committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people.
