Urban Coders Guild Releases FY2025 Annual Report: Building Tulsa’s Tech Talent Pipeline
At Urban Coders Guild, we believe every young person deserves a pathway to opportunity in technology. Our newly released FY2025 Annual Report reflects a year of growth, persistence, and achievement by Tulsa middle and high school students who are preparing for college, careers, and life in a digital economy.
Expanding access and equity
This year, 159 students from 10 different school districts participated in our tuition-free programs. They built skills in web and mobile app development, game design, Python, and cybersecurity. Nearly 90 percent of students identify as non-White, one-third are female or non-binary, and half qualify for free or reduced lunch. These numbers underscore our mission: to open doors for students who are too often left out of technology education and careers.
Real results for students
Students are not just learning to code. They are advancing along a pathway that leads to real credentials and career opportunities. In FY2025, students earned 18 industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields. These certifications open the door to college credit, internships, and entry-level tech jobs. Students also gained the confidence, community, and competency that come from presenting projects, competing in cybersecurity events, and working on college campuses.
Removing barriers that prevent persistence
While other programs stop at instruction, Urban Coders Guild goes further. Thanks to our partners, we provide meals, transportation through MODUS, and coverage of certification exam fees. These supports may seem small, but they are often the deciding factor in whether a student can enroll, attend consistently, and complete the program. Families pay nothing, which makes persistence possible and outcomes sustainable.
Connecting to Tulsa’s broader goals
This work is not just about afterschool learning. It is academic enrichment that keeps students engaged in school, career readiness that directly connects to Tulsa’s Tech Hub designation, and an equity strategy that advances economic mobility for young people and families. Urban Coders Guild is helping ensure that Tulsa’s growing tech economy reflects the diversity, brilliance, and potential of its youth.
Looking ahead
In the year ahead, we will serve 180+ students, increase persistence and credential attainment, expand internships and apprenticeships with local employers, and secure additional dual-credit opportunities so high school work counts toward college. These goals align directly with Tulsa’s priorities around workforce development and college and career readiness.
